About Us
Background
The Reynoldsburg Community Band is a traditional concert band open to everyone (high school-age or older). The first organizational meeting took place at City Hall on October 22, 1997, and this led to the first rehearsal on November 12, 1997 at the Reynoldsburg High School band room.
The band, consisting of volunteers, serves the Reynoldsburg community by performing, educating and entertaining. The City of Reynoldsburg (Parks and Recreation Department) sponsors the Reynoldsburg Community Band.
Concerts
The RCB performs in two main concert seasons every year, summer and Christmas. Although most of the concerts are played in Reynoldsburg, the band has performed at concerts held in Westerville, Lancaster, Columbus Park of Roses, and Mechanicsburg. Please see upcoming concerts on our calendar.
Most of our concerts are open to public and free, so please feel free to attend our concerts!
Our Director
Aaron C. Jackson is a product of Columbus City Schools. He attended The Ohio State University as a music education major where he studied tuba performance with Professor Robert T. LeBlanc and conducting with Dr. Donald McGinnis. He performed in many ensembles including the concert band and the famed Ohio State University Marching Band.
After receiving his degree, he joined the Columbus City schools where he taught primarily in high schools and served as Coordinator of Instrumental Music and Theatre for the district. He retired in 2013. A working and freelance musician, he performs in many genres from Classical music to Dixieland as a tubist, guitarist, and banjoist and has conducted in many ensembles including pit orchestra and concert, jazz, and brass bands.
Joining the Band
Rehearsals are currently being held on Monday evenings from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Baldwin Road Junior High School, 2300 Baldwin Rd., Reynoldsburg, Ohio during the school year, and at Reynoldsburg Senior Citizens Center in summer time.
